JOB SUMMARY

  • Our client is a federally funded telecommunications relay program that aids the deaf and hard of hearing community by efficiently and accurately re-voicing telephone conversations between a hearing party and a person with hearing loss via speech recognition software.
  • Captioning agents send real time text captions to customers using voice-to-text transcription software.  This service allows Americans with hearing loss to use the telephone for their daily      communication needs.
  • This job requires the Captioning Agent to use their voice with the software to capture conversations. The agent must accurately repeat the conversation verbatim in real time.  This position is in Omaha, NE and is not available for work-at-home.  Full-Time and Part-Time positions are available along with hiring bonus opportunities.

CDDT is the longest running CDL training program in Omaha, having been training since 1971.  We offer full and half day classes and part time evenings and Saturdays.  


The schedule options are:Full time days Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm (4 weeks), Part time days would be either Mon-Fri 8am-12pm or Mon-Fri from 12:30pm-4:40pm (8 weeks),Part time nights and Saturdays Mon-Thur 4pm-6pm and Saturdays 8am-4:30pm (10 weeks).  The evening classes have changed for daylight savings time but will return to Mon-Thur 4pm-8pm (no Saturday) when daylight savings ends.

  • Creates and presents 2 Technology programs each month at each school.
  • Creates, evaluates and maintains online services that are used to make up for any sessions that are missed by students for legitimate reasons, in order that they stay on track with the curriculum and meet grant objectives.
  • Creates and implements recruitment presentations in classes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • The site coordinator is expected to be highly independent and self-motivated to meet objectives set by the Director and the TRiO grant with minimal supervision, as services will be conducted at the schools and therefore cannot always be monitored in person.
     

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, or a similar field required
  • Minimum three years related work experience to include working with low-income and/or first generation students preferred
  • Experience with public speaking
  • Experience designing, managing, and implementing UB, TRIO or other grant programs and curriculum development preferred
  • Experience overcoming barriers similar to participating students preferred (low income, first-generation status)
  • Knowledge/experience with the following (preferably in teaching these): 
    • Videography
    • Digital cameras
    • Tablet technologies
    • Google tools
    • Web development
    • Mobile applications
    • Robotics
    • YouTube and blogging
    • Knowledge of computer systems
    • Digital media design
    • Database usage

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Skill and experience in speaking confidently and      energetically to large groups of high school students/youth
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills
  • Experience with mentoring, tutoring, or counseling
  • Ability to use and teach a varied array of      technology that is particularly engaging and helpful to high school and      college students
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students and others of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with public schools
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel and email
  • Ability to work independently and accurately, and      make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
